The seasons say it’s time for darkness and contemplation. This week’s Free Thing should get you in the mood.
Composer Mehdi Mahmoudabadi has been writing music for video games and short films, including the eccentric, incomplete History of Film web show. His latest release on the Zenapolae netlabel, Dreamy, Haunting and Slow, moves away from the dastgah-influenced drones and thumping scratch work of his first release, Time is Addictive, and into a more purely lyrical style.
Especially lovely is the third track, “Something to Look At,” which strikes us as perfect for the season, especially fitting for an autumn sunrise.
We think you’ll like it.
