We haven’t brought you any comix lately at the Star. We’d like to fix that.
Zoe Schein is a young Midwesterner now living in the other Washington. We stumbled across her work a couple months ago while we were pondering why so many comics artists post their work online for free, yet don’t avail themselves of Creative Commons licenses. Ms. Schein is obviously hipper than most.
Her work is remarkable for her fine use of solid blacks (mmm…solid blacks…) and her crisp, absurdist sense of humor, especially noticeable in her “Too Real Phil” strips and her deft Avengers parody, The Adventures of Zoe, the Anxious Superhero with No Powers.
Here we give you her variation on a Western theme, “Back in Town.” Enjoy.
