San Francisco’s Andy Warner spent time at the American University of Beirut as an undergraduate. During that time, he made some other friends in the world of Lebanese comics, including the group that would later go on to form Samandal.
Mr. Warner still continues to contribute to Samandal. The magazine remains impossibly difficult to get in the States. Where their first three issues were available from their website, they haven’t made anything beyond that available in over four years, though they have completed at least 15 issues. Still, they continue to do lovely work, and Mr. Warner remains faithful to them with contributions of his own.
