RAW: natural born artists is an independent arts organization that hand-selects and spotlights independent creatives in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair and makeup artistry, photography, models and performing arts.
This is big. RAW Artists is a national company producing monthly showcases in 65 cities across this country and Australia, providing up-and-coming artists with resources and exposure – two things most artists don’t get in spades… And they’ve settled in Seattle! I am myself one of the happy recipients of their support and I’m absolutely thrilled to have been invited to show my current collection at the upcoming August 18th event.
The finale of this evening of art includes a high fashion runway show where I’ll be featuring my 2012 Recycled Couture collection, To Dye For. My collection is the embodiment of romance, bohemia, femininity and vibrancy. Each garment is crafted from 100% recycled materials, hand sculpted into one-of-a-kind pieces in bold colors and flattering silhouettes, utilizing natural, hand-dyed cotton, linen + silk.
This is not your run-of-the-mill art show, folks. RAW events are multi-faceted artistic showcases. Each event lasts over two hours and features a film screening, musical performance, fashion show, art gallery, performance art… and this month? A magician. Not just any magician. My friend, Nash Fung. He will blow you away with his close-up sleight-of-hand how’d-he-do-that style of magic. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.
Advance tickets are available online for only $10 plus tax ($15 at the door). This is a unique opportunity to show your support for your favorite local artist. When you purchase your ticket, you can choose one of the artists from the drop down list. We artists do not receive any money if you select us, but we do bank credit with the RAW team for additional promotion, features and awards. Be sure to click on your favorite artist when you purchase your tickets. If that just happens to be glam.spoon, I would be eternally grateful.
Whatever your reasons for attending, get out there and support local artists, and keep the showcases coming.
